Hackathons are popular in Silicon Valley, and we had our very own, dubbed Hack @Turn. It was AWESEOME! Turn participants - ranging from senior management to interns - spent a full 24 hours of hacking at our headquarters in Redwood City.
The event kicked-off at 12:30pm on Thursday and ran through Friday afternoon, giving hackers a day of prototyping and code writing. Over 50 employees, made up of 12 teams, rolled up their sleeves and got to work. The teams had plenty of espresso and snacks to boost their energy. At 5am, most employees were still awake and coding. With projects due at 2pm, the teams were feeling the crunch.
The results, 12 project submissions presented to a panel of judges. Judging criteria was based on project innovation, team collaboration, presentation, and technology features. The top three teams were awarded prizes, and for everyone else who participated left with a day filled with hacking memories.
The technology developed was exceptionally innovative, and some deserving of patents.
This was our greatest Hack @Turn to date, and we’re excited to share our video.
