It all started with a simple idea.
In 1987, Mary Risley and a small group of concerned professionals came up with a simple idea: donate food from those who have too much to those who have too little. Risley convinced members of the restaurant industry to save and donate excess food, which she and a few friends pick up and distribute to local shelters and food programs. Since then, the number of members donating perishable food to Food Runners has grown.
Turn is proud to be a member of participating companies committed to helping feed the hungry in the San Francisco-based community. We feel fortunate to receive catered lunches multiple times a week and now on the days we have food left over, we will be able to share the much needed food with those in need.
